Results It is NHS Lothian Laboratory Medicine policy that results should be returned via a secure email address. Paper copies of reports can be sent via Royal Mail by prior arrangement although electronic reporting is preferred to improve turnaround. Turnaround times For efficiency, samples will be batched and SHPVRL will work to a turnaround of 5 working days from receipt of sample. Turnaround time excludes weekends and public holidays. Accreditation and Quality aspects The SHPVRL is situated in the Department of Laboratory Medicine within Microbiology which is accredited for ISO15189:2012 (Project no 22012-00). Complaints should be raised in writing with the Director - Kate Cuschieri, kate.cuschieri@nhs.scot NHS Lothian has a full time Quality Manager, who reports directly to the Clinical Director of Laboratories. The post holder is a member of the Laboratory Operational Group, and is independent of the Specialty Management Teams within the service. Assistant Compliance Managers also aid with service continuity.
