The Scottish Microbiology Reference Laboratories are part of a Scottish group of laboratories that are centrally funded by National Service Scotland to provide specialist services to the Scottish population. Five Laboratories are hosted by NHS Lothian and they include Blood Borne Virus, Bacterial Sexually Transmitted Infections, E.coli, Human Papilloma and Mycobacteria functions. The service is centrally funded for referring laboratories across Scotland.
