1. Industrial Diseases of the Lungs

Anthracosilicosis
Byssinosis      
Pneumoconiosis
Anthracosis
Chemical pneumonitis
Siderosis
Asbestosis      
Dust reticulation
Silicosis
Bagassosis
Extrinsic allergic alveolitis
 
Berylliosis       
Occupational asthma
 

Any lung disease qualified by an occupational term (e.g. farmer's lung).

 

2. Zoonotic Diseases (diseases transmitted from animals to man)

Brucellosis      
Ornithosis
Erysipeloid (of Rosenbach)
Hydatid disease         
Psittacosis
Contagious ecthyma (Orf)

 

3. Other Industrial Diseases

Angiosarcoma
Decompression sickness
Leptospirosis
Anthrax          
Diver's palsy  
Mesothelioma
Caisson disease
Dysbarism
 
Compressed air sickness
Hyperbarism
 

 

4. Malignant Disease

Carcinoma, sarcoma, leukaemia, anaemia or blood dyscrasia if attributed on the Death Certificate to X-rays, radio-active substances or radiation.
 

5. Any form of cancer if shown to be of industrial origin or due to specified substance

Such as:
  • Malignant neoplasm of the skin due to tar, mineral oil, arsenic, pitch, bitumen, soot etc.
  • Cancer of the nose (nasopharynx, nasal sinuses) or of the lung if shown to be due to nickel fumes or vapour or associated with wood or leather working.
  • Cancer of the bladder, renal pelvis or ureter if due to industrial chemical or dyestuff preparations or processes.

6.   Viral Hepatitis and any other form of Hepatitis where the deceased was a medical or dental worker.

7.   Any other disease qualified by an Occupational Term (e.g. wool-sorters disease).

8.   Industrial Poisoning

Including: Toxic Jaundice or Anaemia  (unless the medical certificate clearly indicates that the condition is due to natural causes) Plumbism or Saturnism (chronic lead poisoning)
