* At weekends and Public Holidays, a limited service is provided by a small number of staff. On these days, please ensure that non-urgent samples are delivered to the laboratory as soon as possible before mid-day.

Out of Hours Service

Outside routine working hours please inform the blood bank in advance of any emergency request (Bleep 3729). In the absence of this contact, the laboratory staff may not know that a sample is being delivered and it may not be processed in a timely manner.

Quality Assurance

Internal Quality Assurance protocols ensures that the high standards of testing and service delivery are maintained. The blood bank participates in the UK NEQAS scheme and is accredited through UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) and is compliant with the Medicines and Healthcare Regulation Agency (MHRA).
