General additional information
Diagnosis and monitoring of immune complex disease eg SLE, immune complex mediated vasculitis and hereditary angioedema or other C1 inhibitor deficiencies.
Low levels of C4 strongly suggest immune complex disease. They are found most commonly in cases of active SLE, cryoglobulinaemia, C1 inhibitor deficiency and in some individuals with hereditary C4 deficiency.
This test is not accredited to ISO15189 at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
