Indications for testing:
Used to monitor glycaemic control in individuals with a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus in whom HbA1c may be misleading (e.g. certain haemoglobin variants, anaemia). It should not be used to diagnose diabetes.

Note – Fructosamine values may be misleadingly low in conditions of hypoproteinaemia such as nephrotic syndrome and acute severe illness.
