Transport arrangements
Samples can be sent to RIE from other Lothian sites without centrifugation and separation and sent by Taxi if urgent otherwise the test can be spun, separated and frozen before sending by the next routine van collection.
Requests from SJH and WGH sites should firstly be delivered to blood sciences labs on the requesting site for onward transfer to RIE

How to request
Requests must be approved by a Consultant Haematologist.
This test cannot be requested on TRAK/ICE ordering systems and must be sent with a manual request form

Test must be prior arranged with Coagulation Laboratory, RIE
Testing is available 24/7 by prior arrangement (see above)

1 week
What happens if the result is positive or abnormal
Results will be phoned back to the Haematology team.
